Laura Peña is a Dominican-American speaker, filmmaker, storyteller, entrepreneur, motion designer, traveler, and mentor to young girls.
Laura is on a mission to support teenage girls around the world, by inspiring possibility, igniting their dreams & amplify the voices of this next generation of leaders. She is the founder of She is the Universe, a non-profit organization and global movement for girl’s empowerment.

Founded by storyteller Laura Peña, what started as a personal project that took her on a once in a lifetime adventure around the globe, talking to hundreds of girls from all over the world is now a USA 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering the leaders of the future, girls.

Sacred Promise
Laura is part of a select group of women from around the world who are collectively sharing their stories on the anthology book The Sacred Promise.
Collectively, our stories define the essence of our humanity and liberate us. The Sacred Promise book will show how we’re all connected, threaded and woven into the fabric of the world. Laura’s story will be part of this anthology of storytellers who are creating this beautiful fabric.
A project by Women Changing the World Press in partnership with Oprah’s “all-time favorite guest,” the remarkable Dr. Tererai Trent, an award-winning author.
